The City of Plano has recently replaced a water filtration system at the water filtration Plant on Kristen Street in North Lakewood. Due to higher flow rates during operation and backwash of this new system, discoloration of the City water has been observed by several households in North Lakewood. Due to theses higher flow rates, we are seeing Iron that has settled out in the watermain being picked up and mixed with the finished water causing discoloration of the City water. The City is planning on flushing the watermains in North and South Lakewood starting October 8th. The flushing operation could last up to two weeks. After the lines are sufficiently flushed, the issue of discolored water should go away. If after October 22nd you are still experiencing discolored water, please contact the City of Plano’s Director of Public Works.
