Steven S. Eaves
Chief Steven S. Eaves was born on January 24, 1963, in Aurora, Illinois, where he resided for twenty two years. Since his early childhood he always wanted to be a police officer. That dream came true on March 24, 1986. Chief Eaves started as a patrolman with the police department and on November 13, 1989, at the age of twenty six, he took the position of Chief of Police.
Chief Eaves graduated from Kaneland High School and then attended the College of Dupage for two years before being hired by the Plano Police Department. After his hiring, Chief Eaves attended the Illinois State Police Academy where his peers voted him “Sergeant of Arms”. During eleven years of his employment, Chief Eaves continued his education. He graduated from Aurora University with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice in May of 2002. Chief Eaves graduated with his Master’s Degree, in December of 2007, through Western Illinois University, in the same field.
Chief Eaves has obtained eight grants for the Police Department. These grants support Community Policing, the School Liaison Program, and Drug Education. These grants also helped to update the Police Department with state of the art equipment and helped the department maintain equivalence in a growing technological world.
Chief Eaves is a resident of the City of Plano, and is very active in the community. Chief Eaves interacts with the Plano Schools and the community children. He participates in coaching several forms of athletics. Besides coaching and his admiration for sports, Chief Eaves enjoys weightlifting, motorcycles, golfing, hiking, and camping with his wife and four children.
