In April 1995, Janet Goehst filled a mid-term vacancy for the position as part-time City Treasurer. Later, in January 1996, she also assumed the duties of Budget Officer and during these years has managed the finances and budgets for the City that have exceeded $15,000,000. Today, she is also overseeing the financing of the City’s new $4,000,000 police building.
Janet’s formal education includes an Associates Degree from Waubonsee Community College, Sugar Grove, IL, a Bachelors Degree in Operations Management from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Aurora University, Aurora, IL. Presently, she sits on the Board of Directors for Kendall County Community Action and the Illinois Community Credit Union.
In addition, Janet maintains certifications as an Illinois Municipal Treasurer, Illinois Certified Investment Manager and a Certified Public Finance Administrator for the United States & Canada. In 2005, Janet served as the 27th President of the Illinois Municipal Treasurers Association and today, retains her position on the Board as an Advisor as well as a member of the Nominating Committee.
Janet has resided in Plano since 1975 with her husband, George Goehst. Their daughter, Victoria, is presently attending Aurora University and working towards her Bachelors Degree. Besides keeping up with her family, Janet’s interests include golfing, gardening, reading and relaxing. She and her family also enjoy entertaining their friends and neighbors. |
