FARNSWORTH HOUSE - This is an historical glass house built in the 1940's. It was built by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
YOGI BEAR CAMPGROUND - This campground was started in the 1980's. It was started mainly for children, but now pretty much anyone goes for a nice peaceful campout.
SILVER SPRINGS STATE PARK - The state of Illinois purchased the original 1,250-acre area in 1969. It is located five miles west of Yorkville in Kendall County. An additional 100 acres have since been added to the site. A 30-acre prairie restoration project began in 1980 and continues in its development with the addition of 15 acres in 1991.
CEDARDELL GOLF COURSE - The Cedardell Golf Course was started in 1926, and there were many new officials and presidents of the golf course that have served over time.
Neighborhood Parks
Lathrop Park is 23,700 SF and is located on Hale and North Streets. It contains a gazebo for a shaded sitting area and a shelter with picnic tables. The largest portion of the area consists of two stages of play structures for tots and school age children. It is one of the most utilized parks in the center of town.
Larry Trimberger Park is 3.8 acres and is located in Woodwind Subdivision and has playground equipment for small children.
Plano City Park is 8.8 acres located on East Main Street and contains a lighted softball field, Richard H. Klatt Memorial Field with spectator bleachers and a press box/announcement structure. On the perimeter of the field is play equipment, swings, a shelter with picnic tables all along the beautiful creek which runs on the east end of the park. Fishing is also enjoyed along the creek. It is a heavily used park for all ages.
Foli Park is 28.7 acres of beautiful wooded parkland on South Hale Street with the creek running through it. This is a great fishing spot or excellent for a relaxing walk along the creek to enjoy nature.
Harry Neubert Park is 20,800 SF located in Churchill Farms Subdivision nestled in a cul du sac with a beautiful wooded backdrop. It contains two stages of play for tots and school age children.
Steward Park is approximately 120 acres and is being donated to the City in the very near future. It is graced with a pristine creek and beautiful old trees for any nature lover to behold.
Gorman Park is 5 acres and is located on Klatt and Mitchell streets in south Lakewood Springs. It has two baseball fields and a tot lot.
Dick Hemmingsen Park is 2.03 acres on Bailey Street in south Lakewood Springs. It is a beautiful grassy area for enjoying the sun and independent activities.
Ray Niles Park is 2.4 acres on Cummins St. in south Lakewood Springs near the water tower. Independent play and relaxation on the grassy area is enjoyed by all ages.
Kristen Street park area is located in north Lakewood Springs and is approximately 5 acres of grassy area for independent play.
